See a positive future. Live a positive day. It takes little energy to stop, feel where you are, and decide to speak positive words. It may not feel comfortable at first. So many of you have locked into patterns of negative speaking, negative thinking. Yet, with just a little effort, you can turn toward positive words, actions, and deeds. Allow yourself to be positive. And, when the negatives pop up around you, simply ignore them. If you do not play in a negative world, if you only allow positive words to be set forth from your mouth, your world will quickly turn more positive.

There is no way to break a cycle if you approach it from your past experience. It is your past experience that has helped you to create the current cycle of thought, action, or emotion that you are currently in. Cycles are not broken by rehashing the past. They can only be changed by embracing a different outlook, thought, or emotion.
From our perspective, the past is irrelevant. It is over and done. It cannot be changed, no matter how much time and attention you offer to it. By focusing on your past, you are more likely to encourage similar experiences rather than new, different experiences.
If you have a past experience that was pleasant, it is worth thinking about because this thought will encourage similar events and experiences to come to you. In similar fashion, if you are unhappy with your present, as the question you asked indicates, then you are better off not spending any time on the past. Instead, spend time thinking, dreaming, and hoping for the future that you desire. Spend time doing things and thinking about things that bring you happiness and joy. It matters not if these hopeful experiences you seek have never occurred for you before. All that matters is that you want and desire them to come to you in the future, in the present.
It is also helpful, if attempting to break a pattern or cycle of thought, action, or emotion, to spend time thinking of nothing, or thinking of pleasant things. Do things you enjoy. Read texts that bring you escape and joy. Meditate and quiet your mind.
When you have an experience that reminds you of the cycle you wish to change, offer a word or thought of thanks to that memory or thought. You are where you are today because of your previous thoughts and emotions. So, be glad you are here and appreciate the past experiences you’ve had, all of them, positive and negative. Appreciate those memories and set them free. Now, immediately think again of the new experience or emotion, do so with a smile and light hearted feeling. Each time you do this you will draw the new experience closer to you.
